Testing of our new DSLR camera
We’ve recently over the Christmas 2013 upgraded our hardware from a Canon Rebel T3i to a Canon 70D.
The benefits of upgrading to this hardware includes:
- Faster autofocus on Live View on par with regular point and shoots
- Touch screen autofocus on selected parts of the scene, for both stills and video
- Automatic video autofocus (which won’t be useful for our needs as we tend to record our professional videos in manual focus mode)
- Better enhanced processor to render cleaner images at ISO 1600 and better color and sharper photos
Here we put this to a test:

The photo hasn’t been edited to color correct yet. What we see hear is focusing on the blue stuff animal Totoru, while we still holding the shutter button halfway, readjusting the camera’s position horizontally to make the Totoru in focus in part of the Rule of 3rd’s concept. This photography procedure is called focus lock. Bear in mind that we have to pay attention to the horizontal plane of depth of field, because if we reposition the camera diagonally or move back and forth during the focus lock the blue animal would go out of focus due to change of depth of field planar.
